If you are planning to add a pool to your property, you will need to consider your options carefully. In our experience at Outside In Leisure Products, many homeowners don’t consider any other pool styles except in-ground, which we believe is a mistake. Even if you end up choosing an in-ground pool in the end, you should still look into other styles. In this article, we will compare in- and above-ground swimming pools to help you decide which is right for you.

Swimming Pools: Which Style Is Right for You?

  • In-Ground Swimming Pools – We will start by going over some key qualities of in-ground swimming pools. These pools are highly durable and have long lifespans of 20 years or more. This makes them an attractive option for many homeowners. In addition, because many in-ground pools use custom designs, they can vary in shape, depth, and style. If you are looking for something that will last and that suits your specific tastes, then in-ground swimming pools are probably the way to go. However, be aware that in-ground pools have a higher installation cost due to the extra work involved.
  • Above-Ground Swimming Pools – Now, we will focus on above-ground swimming pools. These pools have a shorter lifespan than in-ground options, typically only lasting between 7 and 15 years. However, they are also less expensive than in-ground pools, and they can be installed (and taken down) much more quickly. If you are looking for something more affordable, or you simply don’t want to commit to an in-ground pool, then we recommend choosing an above-ground option.
